PyData Skopje - November 2023

Start: 30.11.2023 @ 17:00

Join us on Thursday, 30.11.2023 for the latest PyData Meetup in a while, this time around the meet up will be held in Base42, a local hackerspace in Skopje.

There will be two interesting talks on very different but very important topics - building cross-platform models with ONNX and a general overview of dependency management in Python, held by Aleksandar Ivanovski and Tomislav Ignjatov, software engineers at CodeChem.

Here's a short intro into the topics and the speakers:

But it works on my machine?! ONNX 101

In the dynamic world of machine learning, interoperability across frameworks and platforms is paramount. Enter Open Neural Network Exchange (ONNX), a game-changing initiative that empowers data scientists and developers to seamlessly move models between various deep learning frameworks. In this concise talk, we'll embark on a journey into the fundamentals of ONNX, shedding light on its key concepts, benefits, and practical applications.

Python Dependency Management

Python's vibrant ecosystem relies on diverse package managers to simplify the complex landscape of dependencies and software distribution. This abstract provides an overview of package managers in the Python ecosystem, exploring their roles in managing project dependencies, version control, and environment isolation.

About the speakers

Aleksandar Ivanovski

Aleksandar Ivanovski holds a BSc in Computer Science from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering and is currently working on a master's degree at the International University of Applied Sciences in Germany. He has published several scientific papers in the field of machine learning. He works as a software engineer at CodeChem, and during his professional career he has worked with large global companies such as BASF where he had a great impact in providing innovative solutions using data to improve processes in the field of agriculture.

Tomislav Ignjatov

Tomislav Ignjatov is a software engineer at CodeChem with experience in developing NLP models and has worked on various projects in the field of medicine - from the development of heart rate classification models, to DNA representation and classification, as well as an analysis of the predispositions for the development of diseases. Tomislav is big open source enthusiast, mostly active in developing and implementing models for machine learning, along with data preparation through the development of ETL pipelines.
