Don’t Get Lost in the AI Wave: Navigating the AI Shift in Data Science and Engineering

Start: 21.10.2026 @ 18:00

With the arrival of autumn, PyData Skopje is kicking off a new season of talks, discussions, and community gatherings!

On October 21, 2026, starting at 18:00, we're opening the new season with “Don’t Get Lost in the AI Wave: Navigating the AI Shift in Data Science and Engineering”, featuring Dr. Irena Bojarovska from Zalando SE.

We'll explore how Artificial Intelligence is transforming Data Science, Machine Learning, and Software Engineering, and how we can make the most of emerging technologies to work smarter, move faster, and stay focused.

About the Event

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing the way we analyze data, develop models, and build software systems. With the rise of Agentic AI, we're moving beyond writing every line of code ourselves toward orchestrating intelligent agents that can automate tasks and accelerate development.

But with new tools, models, and frameworks emerging almost every week, the challenge is no longer just learning how to use them. How do we keep up with the pace of change, boost productivity, and avoid getting lost in the overwhelming amount of information and new technologies?

In this session, Dr. Irena Bojarovska will share practical approaches, personal experiences, and strategies for leveraging Agentic AI in Machine Learning. We'll explore how these technologies can accelerate experimentation, data analysis, and ML development while maintaining focus, critical thinking, and control over our work.

We'll kick things off with an interactive quiz exploring real-world AI habits and approaches. Irena's talk will be followed by an open discussion and Q&A session, staying true to the PyData community spirit, where everyone is encouraged to ask questions, exchange ideas, and share experiences.

About the Speaker

Dr. Irena Bojarovska is an Applied Scientist at Zalando SE, working at the intersection of forecasting, pricing, and data-driven commercial decision-making.

Her academic and professional background combines applied mathematics, machine learning, and scientific research. Her current work explores how emerging AI models can accelerate experimentation and contribute to better business decisions.

Her focus extends beyond predictive accuracy to model stability, downstream business impact, and how AI is reshaping scientific workflows by shortening the journey from initial research to working prototypes.
